OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to examine the principles of operation and use of different navigation systems used in air transportation.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include the subjects such as classification of navigation systems according to their characteristics, functions and components of radio transmitters, process of obtaining information in airplane navigation systems, operation of satellite based navigation systems and advantages over other systems.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Classify navigation systems according to their working principles, range and usage purposes.
Explain the basic components and functions of a simple radio transmitter
Explain how information is obtained and displayed in navigation systems in airplane.
Describe the superiority of satellite based navigation systems over other systems.
