General Information

Aim of the Program

The purpose of the Department of Restoration and Conservation, in accordance with the vision and mission of our university is to educate the graduates who are able to follow scientific and technological developments in the field and who are self-confident and conscious about preserving the cultural heritage. Our department aims to specialize in the evaluation of the deterioration processes in historical architecture, to analyze historical works and to determine the ideal protection conditions. For this purpose, it is aimed to train the qualified technical experts and academic scientists that our country needs in subjects such as detection and development of protection and repair materials and preparation of applicable protection projects.

 

 

 

Target of the Program

The aim of the restoration and conservation program is to train the scientists who are equipped with the technical and material advancement who are able to meet the needs of the sector and who are able to follow the innovations in the related techniques and materials and to update themselves with the latest information and meet the needs of the sector.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Department of Restoration and Conservation have the opportunity to work under various titles in public and private sectors with the quality, professional, world-class education they receive.  Our graduates can be employed as restorers and conservators, and they can also work under different titles. In addition, graduates of the Department of Restoration and Conservation can continue with postgraduate education and pursue academic careers.

Working Places

With the qualified, professional, world-class education that they will have received, graduates of the Department of Restoration and Conservation will have employment opportunities in various positions at companies that function in the public and private sector. Being mainly employed as restorators and conservators, our graduates  may also work with different titles. Additionally, if graduates of the Department of Restoration and Conservation would like to continue their academic career in their own field, they can build an academic career if they continue the higher education.

 

Programmes allowing Horizontal Transfer

Department of Restoration and Conservation accepts students with lateral transfer within quotas in accordance with "Regulations Regarding the Transition between Programs at the Higher Education Institutions and Programs under the Bachelor's Degree Program, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Transfer among the Associate / Undergraduate Programs".

Programmes allowing Vertical Transfer

All students who want to be enrolled in the Department of Restoration and Conservation by Vertical Transfer are placed by OSYM in case they get adequate score from the Vertical Transfer Examination. Students who fulfill all the requirements are entitled four years of undergraduate education at our university. Also, the associate degree students at Istanbul Gelisim University will have the chance to be enrolled with 50 percent scholarship if they are placed in paid program after DGS.
