OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to introduce the basic concepts of health psychology, basic concepts such as health/illness/well-being, and the main operating fields of study of this discipline, and to review the basic propositions of theoretical perspectives that contribute to the development of the discipline of health psychology.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include "case studies in the context of biopsychosocial model, preservation and maintenance of health, improving the quality of life, applications for intervention and education programs in the basic areas of health psychology, and in the context of different subjects and chronic diseases."

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Summarize basic subjects of study of the field of health psychology. (Bloom’s 2)
Distinguish the predictive effects of these concepts on health and disease behaviours of individuals and define the basic concepts in the field of health psychology. (Bloom’s 4)
Compare the basic theories discussed in this field in terms of the aims and basic propositions of these theories and classify them. (Bloom’s 4)
Evaluate regarding which applications in the field of health and disease will work and which will be dysfunctional. (Bloom’s 5)
Discuss with scientific grounds by gaining a basic awareness on how individuals with illnesses or risky health behaviours by a health psychologist within framework of a multi discipliner approach. (Bloom’s 4)
