OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to teach the mass communication process, basic functions, tools and theories of mass communication and to teach the effects of mass communication on society.
Contents of the Course Unit: The course includes an overview of the phenomenon and theories of mass communication. Dominant approaches and critical approaches in mass communication are examined, information is given about the development, effects and control of mass media.

Clasiffy the basic communication theories.
Evaluate the relations between the mass media and society based on different mass communication theories.
Discuss mass communication activities in producer and consumer culture.
