OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to introduce students to the institutionalization and transformation of political communication in democracies by addressing political communication with its mainstream and critical dimensions within the historical development process.
Contents of the Course Unit: Defining the concept of political communication and discussing the political communication process, talking about the actors involved in the political communication process, examining the types of political communication, giving examples of political communication types, discussing the methods and techniques used in the political communication process, examining the political communication activities of political parties. Giving examples of various political party activities from the world and Turkey and examining the political campaign processes of political parties constitute the content of this course.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Examines concepts and theoretical approaches regarding political communication through articles.
Relates the concepts of public opinion, media, democracy and public space in line with the information obtained.
It compares the campaigns and advertisements of political parties over the last election with 8 items.
Correctly interprets the relations between media and politics.
Designs a sample election campaign study with group work.
