OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The objective of the course is to help students understand the methods of analyzing the literary texts, the historical and social conditions in which the texts were generated, the critical reading of the literary texts, the changes of theme, form and style in Turkish poetry, the elements of the genre and the implicit messages of the literary texts.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Recognize the appropriate methods of analysis according to the types of texts.
Question the ways in which the analyzed texts may be influenced by the historical background and social conditions during the time they were generated.
Analyze fictitious texts with a critical reading comprehension.
In the light of the methods of poetry analysis, analyze the changes and developments of Turkish poetry in terms of theme, form and style with examples from the Republican era and afterwards.
Examine the structural elements of the novel type, and judge about the implicit messages of the fictitious texts.
