OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |

Objectives of the Course Unit: | This course aims to enable students communicate in English in a wide range of business situations, develop communication skills in business and enlarge their knowledge of the business world in the target language. The course also aims to pave the way for being fluent and confident in using the language of business and help them increase their career prospects over a language. |
Contents of the Course Unit: | BASIC USER: Contents of the course include introducing yourself in the target language, discussions on problems at work, foods from different countries, buying different products, doing business in another country. The course covers authentic articles, on a variety of topics from prominent newspapers and online business websites along with authentic interviews with businesspeople and a wide range of business oriented topics and disciplinary texts. INDEPENDENT USER: Contents of the course include letters in various business occasions such as hotel bookings, acceptance of invitations, declining of invitations, conveying of a meeting, confirmation and cancelling of a meeting, letters of thanks and discussing gender related qualities socialising etc. The course covers authentic articles, on a variety of topics from prominent newspapers and online business websites along with authentic interviews with businesspeople and a wide range of business oriented topics and disciplinary texts. PROFICIENT USER: Contents of the course include dealing with communication breakdown, words to describe good and bad communicators, marketing collocations, idioms, multi-word verbs etc. The course covers authentic articles, on a variety of topics from prominent newspapers and online business websites along with authentic interviews with businesspeople and a wide range of business oriented topics and disciplinary texts. |
