OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |
Objectives of the Course Unit: |
This course aims to enable students to analyse modernist and postmodern novels written in the 20th century by putting under scrutiny the theoretical, literary, economic, social, and political developments occurring in the 20th century. |
Contents of the Course Unit: |
This course covers analyses of the (selected) novels from the 20th century and theoretical texts from the 20th century as secondary sources. |

apply feminist theories to the realist texts in a research paper. |
relate the authors’ use of language, writing style, and narrative techniques to the developments occurring in literature in relation to the theoretical, literary, social and political context of the 20th century in a research paper. |
compare and contrast modernist novels and postmodern novels in terms of their distinctive features verbally or in a research paper. |
estimate the general economic, social, and political structure of the 20th century through the analysis of a modernist or postmodern novel written in the 20th century. |
explain the development of the novel genre from the beginning of the 20th century to the late 20th century verbally or in an essay. |
