OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |

Objectives of the Course Unit: | This course offers an advanced overview of the key international security issues in terms of both military and non-military security such as ‘’terrorism’’, ‘’new wars’’, ‘’nuclear proliferation’’, ‘’arms trade in conventional weapons’’, ‘’intelligence and security’’, ‘’private military and security companies’’, ‘’environmental security’’, ‘’food security’’, ‘’health and security’’ as well as several cases including great powers’ security policies and emerging new challanges arising from regional security problems. |
Contents of the Course Unit: | Contents of the course include horizontal and vertical factors and subjects effecting the international security after the end of Cold War which has brought before new security concept in the field of international relations. |

On completing the course a successful student should be able to: [i] understand a wide range of contemporary security issues and the potential relations between them [ii] formulate academically informed opinions about, and demonstrate knowledge in depth of, particular contemporary security issues [iii] understand the differences between the narrow and the broader security agenda. |
