OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to enable the student to evaluate social movements in a historical perspective, to reveal the relationship between social problems and social movements and to discuss the effects of social movements on the local and global levels with examples from history.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include; the definition of social movement, examples from history; labor movements, feminism, fascism and anti-colonial movements in the interwar period, 1968 transformation, new social movements and interpretation of new problems.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Interprets the results of social movements both nationally and internationally within the framework of mutual relations.
Compares new social movements and old social movements based on current events.
Relates the social dynamics and movements with its multifaceted perspective against social movements.
Questions the factors that cause social movements, the starting point and objectives of the movements with a sociological perspective.
Relates a cause and effect relationship between today's problems and these movements.
Evaluates the observations observed in daily life about social movements by being aware of the differences and similarities with old social movements.
