OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to give detailed information about the planning and design of airports.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include subjects such as characteristics of air transportation, classification of air transport, airport planning approach, airplane characteristics related to airport design, airport capacity, runway configuration, STOL-port design, structural design of airport coatings.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Define the design principles of airports.
Describe the relation between runways and runway-terminal.
Practice preparation for the planning of taxiways, aprons and terminals.
Evaluate the effects of airports on the environment.
Classify airports in the world.
