Objectives and Contents

Objectives: This course aims to teach basic sources, concepts and institutions of maritime law and to enable the students to determine a road map as a solution for disputes and legal problems that may arise in maritime trade law.
Content: Contents of the course include; subjects as in ship, flag, ship registry, ship ownership, ship mortgage, operation of the ship, equipping and operating concepts, equipment subsidiary, building partnership, captain, ship man, freight contract and its types and rights and obligations of the parties, documents in freight contracts, compulsory execution in sea law concepts and issues as in transfer of ship ownership, rescue in sea accidents, collision, dispatch, assistance, general average, lay time and demurrage, passenger carriage contracts, loading, unloading and delivery in overseas sales contracts.
