OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: In this course, it is aimed to provide students with the ability to know the development process of different media forms, to make comparisons between old and new media forms, to interpret the effects of media on society and culture.
Contents of the Course Unit: The development process of media since the early ages, the emergence and development process of traditional and new media technologies, media and communication, mass communication and mass media, mass society, mass culture and culture industry concepts constitute the content of this course.

To be able to define concepts related to communication history, technology and innovation
To have knowledge about the development of media in the world and in Turkey
To be able to critically evaluate the relationship and interaction between media and power
To be able to interpret the effects of events and phenomena in various periods of history on the development process of media tools from a critical perspective
