The aim of this program is to educate physiotherapists as individuals who are equipped with advanced knowledge and skills in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, are competent in designing evidence-based physiotherapy programs for different patient groups, and are open to research and scientific studies. At the same time, the program aims to improve students’ skills in accessing, presenting, sharing, and discussing information, while encouraging openness to innovation and fostering a habit of conducting research.
The program aims to enable students, with the support of Istanbul Gelisim University’s strong infrastructure, to contribute to meeting an important need in Türkiye and to the scientific advancement of the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
Specialist physiotherapists who graduate from this program may work as healthcare professionals in various fields and, if they wish, further advance their careers through doctoral education and subsequent academic studies.
The need for qualified physiotherapists is steadily increasing in Türkiye and particularly across Europe. In addition, there is a growing need for trained academic staff in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation at both public and foundation universities. Accordingly, physiotherapists who have completed postgraduate education and developed scientific research competencies are becoming increasingly important in both clinical and academic settings.
Candidates who have graduated from a Bachelor’s degree program in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation and have earned the professional title of “Physiotherapist” may apply to the program, provided that they meet the admission requirements. The program is suitable for physiotherapists who wish to develop themselves both academically and clinically, advance their professional knowledge and skills, and take part in scientific research.
Physiotherapists enrolled in the program may work in hospitals, medical centers, special education and rehabilitation centers, sports clubs, nursing homes, wellness centers, and similar institutions. In addition, provided that they meet the relevant requirements, they may apply for research assistant positions at both public and foundation universities. After graduation, they may also apply for lecturer positions in accordance with the relevant regulations and specific job announcement requirements.
Students enrolled in thesis-based Master’s programs in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at other universities may apply for horizontal transfer to the program, provided that they meet the relevant regulations and transfer requirements.
There is no vertical transfer application for Master’s degree programs.
