OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |

Objectives of the Course Unit: | This course aims to define the "urban space" in the light of the debates on what has been happening in the social sciences, especially since the 1960s, to show the approach and differences of the social sciences with the different approaches on the space, and to provide students with a sociological perspective on the interaction of space-individual. |
Contents of the Course Unit: | Contents of the course include what the space means as a concept, interdisciplinary approaches developed against the space, the description of social sciences as different from the geographical and architectural point of view, urban space, space - individual interaction, basic approaches in space sociology, phenomenological approach, sociological and socio-psychological approaches, Marxist approaches, Lefebvre's conceptualization of space, concepts of abstract space and social space. |
