OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: Objective of this course is to help undergraduate students to access information in printed and written works with Ottoman Turkish Alphabet and to ensure them having knowledge on terminology in the fields of law, economy, philosophy, architecture and political science and to collect data when necessary.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include; the letters and characters in Ottoman Turkish Alphabet; spelling on the beginning, middle and the end, combining and non-combining letters, the spelling of the vowels in Ottoman Turkish, the short texts with vowel points in Ottoman Turkish alphabet, the spelling of the person and the sign pronouns, characteristics of the Arabic-Persian propositional phrases.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Contents of the course include; the letters and characters in Ottoman Turkish Alphabet; spelling on the beginning, middle and the end, combining and non-combining letters, the spelling of the vowels in Ottoman Turkish, the short texts with vowel points in Ottoman Turkish alphabet, the spelling of the person and the sign pronouns, characteristics of the Arabic-Persian propositional phrases.
Apply the spelling of vowels in Ottoman Turkish on sample texts.
Analyze the short texts with vowel points written in Ottoman Turkish alphabet.
Practice the spelling of personal pronouns and demonstration pronouns, and spelling of indicative moods on texts.
Examine the characteristics of Arabic and Persian propositional phrases on sample texts.
Translate the texts written in contemporary alphabet to Ottoman Turkish alphabet.
