OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to provide the students the basic dynamics of the media sector from an economic perspective and to present the reflections and development of the media industry today.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include basic evaluations on media economics such as historical development of the media economy, the relationship between the media industry and the state, and the point where the media economy is at in the age of globalization.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Interpret and recognize the basic concepts of economy in the context of media economics.
Discuss both the relationship of media with the state and the transformation undergone in the age of globalization.
Relate the structure of media industry according to media types.
Generalize the economic structure of media by evaluating current examples on the media industry.
