OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to provide knowledge and theoretical infrastructure to analyze the world and Turkey from a comparative perspective in the light of prominent theories in democracy, which is a main subject of political science and contemporary societies.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include subjects as in the concept of democracy, definitions of democracy, classical theories of democracy, modern theories of democracy, Turkey and democracy.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Explain basic principles and qualities of democracy.
Relate between modern theories of democracy and precursor theories of democracy.
Compare theories of democracy.
Interpret general principles of democracy by using knowledge of theories of democracy.
Identify modern theories of democracy.
Categorize theories of democracy from a historical and political perspective.
