OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The objective of the course is to help students gain the knowledge to explain the processes related to socialization in sports and to conduct sample case analysis for the issues of deviation and violence in sports activities.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include; definition and concept of sports sociology, birth and historical development of sociology of sports, historical development of olympic games, definition of society, society and sport, family and sports from a sociological perspective, education and sports from a sociological perspective, culture and sports from a sociological perspective, sports and socialization and deviation and violence in sports activities.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Define basic concepts related with Sociology of Sports.
Describe each element of the benefits and acquisitions of the sport.
Discuss the sociological implications of family, culture, education and politics.
Describes the processes of socialization.
Analyze case studies on the subject of deviation and violence in sportive activities.
