OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS
Objectives of the Course Unit:	Arkeoloji hakkında temel bilgileri vermek, öğrencilerin arkeoloji hakkında genel bir fikir sahibi olmalarını sağlamaktır.
Contents of the Course Unit:	Arkeoloji nedir: Arkeolojinin tanımı, amacı, sınırları; Arkeolojinin diğer bilimlerle ilişkisi: tarih, filoloji, jeoloji, felsefe, zooloji, botanik ve sanat tarihi ilişkileri; Anadolu arkeolojisine bakış: ilk araştırmalar, günümüze kadar gelen arkeolojik çalışmalar. Arkeoloji biliminin ortaya çıkışı, tarihsel gelişimi, Türkiye’de arkeoloji; Anadolu’daki arkeolojik araştırma alanları, dünyadaki arkeolojik keşifler ve eski yazıtların çözüm yöntemleri, kazılar ve kazı türlerini kapsayan bir anlatım ön görülmektedir. Arkeolojik bir araştırmanın esasları: antik kaynakların, arkeolojik, epigrafik ve nümizmatik belgelerin değerlendirilmesi, Arkeolojinin Kolları: prehistorya, protohistorya, eski yakın doğu arkeolojisi.

Arkeoloji biliminin ne ile uğraştığını ve neyi araştırdığını öğrenir. Diğer bilimler ile arkeoloji arasındaki bağlantıyı keşfederek disiplinlerarası çalışma düşüncesini oluşturur. Arkeoloji türlerinin neler olduğunu öğrenerek neden farklı alt türler olduğunun bilincine varır. İnsanlığın gelişimi ile ilgili bilgi edinerek günümüzdeki insanın kültürel evrimine ilişkin bilgi sahibi olur ve günümüz insanının gelişmesini anlamaya başlar. Türkiye'deki arkeolojik yerleşmeler hakkında bilgi edinir ve Türkiye'nin insanlığın kültür tarihi açısından önemini kavrar. Kazıların nasıl yapıldığını öğrenir.
