OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to provide information about the structures, classifications, general characteristics of microorganisms, the conditions necessary for the development and reproduction of microorganisms and their mechanisms of disease, important infection and disease agents and ways of protection.
Contents of the Course Unit: Introduction and history of microbiology, structure and general properties of microorganisms, development and growth of microorganisms, microbial metabolism and genetics, microorganism-host relationships, microbial flora of the body, infection transmission routes, disinfection, antisepsis and sterilization, general characteristics of bacteria, important bacterial agents, viruses general characteristics, important viral agents, general characteristics of fungi, important fungi and molds, general characteristics of parasites, important parasitic agents, microbial diagnosis methods, mechanisms of antibiotic action, development of resistance to antibacterial drugs, basic immunology and
