OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: Objective of the course is to help students gain the skill of basic level planning and preparation of folklore show.
Contents of the Course Unit: Course contains subjects such as definition of folk dances, classification of folk dances, folk dances, video demonstrations of dance samples according to folk dance types, introduction of costumes for different regions, basic steps used in folk dances, Teaching and practicing specified local folk dances (Istanbul Kasab, Atabarı, Henne, Yandım Ayşe'm), and the techniques and practices of stage arrangement (choreography).

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Explain the basic concepts used in folk dances.
Recognize the local costumes for the folk dances and choose the appropriate costumes that belong to the locality.
Apply the basic steps used in folk dances and implement different dances of various localities.
Use the choreography techniques in choreography studies at a basic level.
Analyze melodic structure of music used in folk dances and rhythmic structures of game.
Prepare a show of folk dances to be staged with all its characteristics.
