OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The objective of the course is to provide the students the ability of teaching yoga techniques for different levels of development, different age levels and different health experiences and to athletes and the ability to distinguish yoga styles (yoga therapy, restorative yoga, yin yoga).
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include; philosophy of yoga, yoga-based body-mind exercises, principles and procedures of preparing a yoga course; content creation for different levels, different age periods, individuals with different health conditions and different sports branches, yoga course auxiliary / support materials and procedures for use, personal attitude and ethical characteristic of instructor, different yoga styles: yoga therapy, restorative yoga and yin yoga.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Define the basic concepts of the eight-level systematic structure of Yoga.
Explain the effects of Yoga on body, mind and mental health.
Practice basic and medium level standing, breathing, relaxation, concentration and meditation techniques specific to yoga.
Teach basic techniques specific to Yoga.
Apply Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Therapy courses at a basic level to strengthen individual's well-being.
Distinguish the similarities and differences in the procedures of Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Therapy practices.
Prepare a yoga course plan for individuals with different characteristics.
Prepare a yoga course plan for athletes in different disciplines.
