OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to provide the students with a basic knowledge of the main theoretical approaches which examine the structural and functional aspects of cinema since its beginning.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include topics such as formal film theory, realistic film theory, psychoanalytic film theory, feminist film theory and postmodern approaches.

Describe basic cinema theories and important theoreticians.
Explain the reasons of theories of cinema.
Explain the development of cinema language.
Relate modern and postmodern period approaches with film theories.
