Objectives: | The aim of the course is based on the change that modern political approaches experienced in the last quarter of the 20th century. For this purpose, changes in political approaches as well as mainstream political ideologies have been the subject of discussion in recent years, especially within the framework of discussions that started with the neo-liberal understanding of politics and continued with postmodernity and globalization. Although the change process has not been completed, the change and transformation is not discussed/discussed as clearly as before. However, the main purpose of the course lies in monitoring these changes and providing information and analysis on them. |
Content: | The content of the course is shaped in line with general topics that are interconnected and intertwined. In the first part, after conceptual and theoretical explanations are made, Modern Ideologies are introduced. After detailing the changes that modern ideologies have undergone, the Welfare State, the New Right Approach-Authoritarian Populism and the Rise of Neo-Liberal Politics are examined. In the Second Part of the course, Postmodernity, Globalization and Changing Understanding of Politics, Colonialism-Postcolonialism, Modernity-Postmodernity Comparison and Structuralism-Poststructuralism debates are examined. In the last part of the course, contemporary political approaches in Turkey are examined in the context of Kemalism-Post-Kemalism, Secularism-Post-Secularism and Islamism-Post-Islamism debates in connection with more local dynamics. |
