Aim of the Program

The purpose of the First Aid and Emergency Care Program is to train qualified healthcare assistants who can provide pre-hospital emergency medical services in accordance with scientific, ethical, and professional principles, and who can effectively perform life-saving and disability-preventing medical interventions during the critical period until the primary treatment of patients and injured individuals is completed. 
 
 

Target of the Program

The Goal of the First Aid and Emergency Care Program: The program aims to train health personnel who are physically healthy and strong, capable of making quick and correct decisions, calm, attentive, and highly responsible, with well-developed communication skills, and who are equipped, competent, and professionally qualified to serve in the emergency services level of the healthcare system.
 
Mission: To train high-quality healthcare technicians who can perform pre-hospital emergency healthcare services in accordance with scientific, ethical, and legal principles; provide accurate, rapid, and effective intervention to patients and injured individuals at the scene; keep their professional knowledge and skills up-to-date; are team-oriented; have advanced communication skills; and possess a high sense of social responsibility.
 
Vision: To be an exemplary education program that provides training in line with national and international standards, stands out with its practice-oriented teaching approach, produces graduates who are preferred in the healthcare field, closely follows scientific and technological developments, is open to quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Career Opportunities

Those who successfully complete this program will receive the title of “Ambulance and Emergency Care Technician (Paramedic).” Graduates can work in public and private hospitals, healthcare institutions, and emergency services. Additionally, they can work in ambulances and hospital emergency departments, assisting doctors when emergency intervention is required, as well as in emergency medical service ambulances, patient transport ambulances, air and sea ambulances, other emergency vehicles, hospitals, medical centers, and all other emergency departments providing emergency healthcare services. Emergency medical technicians work as healthcare personnel in emergency patient transport ambulances, as call reception personnel in command and control centers, and as healthcare personnel in hospital emergency departments. This personnel may also serve as ambulance drivers when necessary (after completing safe driving training).

Future of the Department

Advances in technology and changes in the life cycle are reflected in the healthcare sector as different diseases and emergencies. These situations increase the need for emergency healthcare services. The area allocated to emergency healthcare services is expanding day by day, not only within the state but also within the private sector. Graduates of first aid and emergency care programs are employed in private hospitals, medical centers, private ambulance companies, and similar institutions, and there is a demand for these students.

In emergency and extraordinary situations, individuals who can think practically, possess strong communication skills, remain calm, manage time effectively, act swiftly, are proactive, have an interest in human anatomy and physiology, can ensure environmental safety during first aid and initial response, can function physically and psychologically in chaotic situations, and can perform duties on the line between life and death, This may be a suitable choice for individuals who are curious about the field and open to development.

Our graduates of the First Aid and Emergency Care Program work in the following positions:

3.      As call center personnel in the Command and Control Center.
 
Our graduates continue their undergraduate education in their respective fields through the Vertical Transfer Exam.

Programmes allowing Horizontal Transfer

Students can transfer to all general programs that admit students based on the TYT minimum score.

Programmes allowing Vertical Transfer

Students can transfer to the Emergency Aid and Disaster Management; Nursing; Nursing and Health Services programs through the Vertical Transfer Exam.
