Apply occupational health and safety rules in the pathology laboratory.
Work in compliance with biosafety and infection control precautions.
Receive and register tissue specimens delivered to the laboratory in accordance with standard procedures.
Explain the purpose and basic principles of tissue fixation.
Distinguish different types of fixatives according to their intended use.
Perform tissue processing steps in the correct sequence.
Prepare paraffin blocks using appropriate techniques.
Operate the microtome and produce histological tissue sections.
Prepare histological sections appropriately for staining procedures.
Apply Hematoxylin–Eosin staining steps according to standard techniques.
Identify technical errors and artifacts that may occur in histological preparations.
Demonstrate professional ethics, quality control awareness, and responsibility in pathology laboratory practices.
