OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to provide the student with the competence to introduce the city and the components, assessment of historical, urban and structural transformation examples and planning in environmental integrity within exterior and interior designs.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include the subjects such as urban assessment criteria, historical and social changes, and their reflections of these to physical environment and architecture, modern design examples in historical city and sustainable transformations.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Define the concept of city and its components.
Explain the historical and social changes of the cities and their reflection on physical environment and architecture.
Identify historical and structural sustainable transformations in the Istanbul
Evaluate the examples of historical and structural sustainable transformation in Istanbul.
Plan contemporary design and sustainable transformation projects around Istanbul's historical environment.
