OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |
Objectives of the Course Unit: |
The main purpose of this course is to discuss how digital media is used in the context of social change and action, taking into account the history of new media and activism and technological possibilities. |
Contents of the Course Unit: |
In this course, the social and ethical consequences of digital technologies used for social change, the concepts and development of alternative media and digital activism, and the evaluation of alternative media and digital activism practices are discussed. |

Ability to evaluate the similarities and differences between practice and theory in digital activism |
Ability to explore digital activism practices on social issues of interest |
Ability to define political action, traditional and digital activism, components of social movements |

Having knowledge about civil society and public sphere from an interdisciplinary perspective |
Discovering innovative ideas about the use of different online social networks for social advocacy, and being able to look at these ideas from a critical perspective |
