OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The objective of this course is to teach students the concepts of tale and folk story, narrator, narration, narrative environments and functions of these works. At the end of the course, students will be able to distinguish these genres from other types of folk literature, compare them with other genres, and understand the transition period between Turkish genres.
Contents of the Course Unit: General characteristics of tales, their sources, their classification, their relation with other literary genres, characteristics of folk stories, their sources, their classification, their relation with other genres, examination of the sample tale and folk story texts.

Distinguish the types of tales and folk stories on texts.
Discover the functions of the parts of tale and folk story.
List the methods and techniques used in the examination of these works.
Distinguish the tale and folk story from other types of folk literature on sample texts.
Compare the tales and folk stories with each other and with similar examples in the world.
Based on folklore theories, formulate repetitive patterns in the sample texts of tales and folk stories.
