OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to enable the students to develop an awareness of the current environment-society relationship from a historical perspective and to comprehend the sociological dimension of environmental problems and the use and conservation of resources.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include; control of the natural environment, domination of nature and social regulation, nature-human relationship in the process of modernization, development of the relationship between environment and society and inter-societal differences, today's environmental problems and the search for solutions, the relation of environment with globalization, politics, economy or inter-societal inequality, sustainability and approach to sustainability. The course will also be supported by documentary screening.

Recognizes the concept of environment and interpret the relationship between environment and society sociologically.
Develops a complex perspective to the concept of environment through the approaches he has learned
Distinguishes the similarities and differences in the relationships they establish with their environment
Prepares research proposal for environmental problems.
Evaluates the transformation of the relationship between society and nature from a historical perspective.
Evaluates contemporary environmental problems through the knowledge they have learned in the course.
Argues the relationship between environment and politics, globalization, economy and inter-communal inequality.
