OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to enable students to gain the ability to understand and interpret the developments in the world economy by using current international socio-economic indicators. At the end of the course, students will be able to analyze the causes and results of current economic developments.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of this course include; global economic indicators, balance of payments and foreign trade deficit, financial crises, central banks, monetary policy and interest rates, globalization, unemployment and income distribution, inflation, international trade and emerging markets.

List the macroeconomic indicators of the world economy in order of importance. (Bloom 1)
Summarize the role of central banks in money and interest policies by giving examples of countries. (Bloom 2)
Interpret the developments in the world economy by using current international socio-economic indicators (Bloom 2)
Compare the risks in developing countries by placing them in order of importance (Bloom 2). (Bloom 2)
Analyze the world economy by using the relations between globalization and income distribution. (Bloom 4)
