OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to provide the students with the ability to criticize the structure of the media by explaining the structure and functioning of the media which has acquired a tremendous power.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include the subjects as in defining the concept of media, analysis of the structure of media, evaluation of the media in the context of the role of information flow, linking between communication and obtainment of information, discussing the effects of economic and political situation on the media, interpretation of media structures in the world, interpretation of structuring of media in Turkey, evaluating the media as a global news source, definition of the concept of monopolization.

List at least 5 thinkers who criticize the structure of the media
Tell the historical evolution of economic political thought by taking reference to the given source
Summarize the thoughts of at least 3 of the thinkers who criticize the structure of the media
Infer the results of media production in a political context through a given case study
Analyze the structure of media within the framework of a thinker
Evaluate the way how the media is organized with the ability to think critically in the context of capital and political relations
Criticize the effects of media transformations on social life through case studies
Evaluate the connection between media and capitalist system in the framework of political economy
