OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |

Objectives of the Course Unit: | This course aims to make a sociological analysis by taking into consideration the relationship between art and society within the framework of the basic approaches in the sociology of music. It is aimed to enable the students to understand how music is affected by society or how it affects society, to understand the relationship of music with concepts such as culture, identity, modernization and politics, and through examples to make an assessment in which students' participation is active. |
Contents of the Course Unit: | Contents of the course include; sociology of music and approaches against music which have been developed from past to the present day, the social meaning of music and examples of sociologists, periodic discussions and transformations in sociology of music, music, sociology of music and social significance of music in Turkey, the modernization with music, identity, culture, politics relation. |
