OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of the course is to analyze the capital system by the student based on the relationship between media and consumption.
Contents of the Course Unit: The course includes topics such as describing the relationship between media and capital, questioning the foundations of the consumer society, summarizing the thoughts formed in the context of the critique of the capital system, analyzing the function of the media to maintain consumption, the intervention of the capital system in the individual's freedom.

Lists at least 3 characteristics of the culture industry.
Explain the relationship between media and capital accurately.
Summarizes the thoughts of at least 3 of the Frankfurt School thinkers/philosopher.
Compares the thoughts of at least 2 of the thinkers/philosopher who have a positive approach towards popular culture.
Compares at least 4 of the media channels in the context of consumption power.
Analyzes the historical stages of the consumer society.
