OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS
Objectives of the Course Unit:	Bu dersin amacı öğrencilerin; batı felsefesinin din, metafizik, epistemoloji ve ahlaka dair en önemli argümanlarını tanırlar ve mantıksal akıl yürütmeyle bu argümanları analiz etmesini, değerlendirmesini ve eleştirmesini sağlamaktır.
Contents of the Course Unit:	Dersin içeriğini; felsefenin temel akımlarından, felsefe tarihinin seçili isimlerinden ve bunların düşünce tarihine temel katkılarından bir seçki oluşturmaktadır.

Felsefenin farklı tanımlarından haberdar olur. Felsefenin alanlarını, amacını ve işlevini kavrar.
Aristoteles’in «Nikomahkos’a Etik» adlı eserinde yer alan etikle ilgili görüşleri kavrar.
Aristoteles’te düşünce erdemleri ile karakter erdemleri arasındaki farkı kavrar.
Platon’un İdealar Kuramı’nı öğrenir.
Skolastik felsefede tümeller üzerine sürdürülmüş tartışmaları öğrenir ve bu konuda kendi görüşlerini geliştirir.
Augustinus ile Farabi’nin felsefî görüşlerini, karşılaştırarak öğrenir.
Descartes'ın kartezyen felsefesini öğrenir ve rasyonel düşünüş hakkında kendi görüşlerini geliştirir.
Rasyonalizm ile empirizm akımlarını karşılaştırarak öğrenir ve eleştirel bir gözle her iki görüşü de tartışır.
Kant'ta Aydınlanma düşüncesini tartışır ve bu konuda kendi görüşlerini geliştirir.
Kant'ın "Pratik Aklın Eleştirisi" adındaki kitabında yer alan görüşlerini öğrenir ve Kant'ın ahlâk anlayışını tartışır.
Nietzsche'de insanın dönüşümünü öğrenir ve insanın metamorfozu hakkında kendi görüşlerini geliştirir.
Heidegger'in varlık üzerine görüşlerini öğrenir ve "Nedir bu felsefe?" adındaki metin üzerinden Heidegger'in metafizik anlayışını tartışır.
'Mitos'tan 'Logos'a geçiş evresinde mitolojik bakış açısının terk edilerek yerine rasyonel ve felsefi düşünüşün geldiği dönem özelliklerini ve Presokratik düşünürlerin görüşlerini öğrenir.
Genel tekrar ve tartışmalar ışığında 14 haftalık konularla ilgili kendi görüşlerini geliştirir.
