OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to introduce basic concepts regarding economic integration and how to examine territorialisation in several regions around the world.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include basic concepts regarding economic integration, history and theory of regional commercial treaties, territorialisation practices around the world, political economy of territorialisation in Europe, expansionist policy of European Union, political economy of territorialisation in the American continent, political economy of territorialisation in the Asian continent, political economy of territorialisation in the African continent, World Trade Organisation and mega regional commercial treaties, early liberalization efforts of developing countries, import substitution economy period of Turkey, liberalization period in Turkey and responds against economic integration practices.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Explain the necessity of economic integration in consideration of propositions and axioms in mainstream theories.
List trade associations as in Benelux, EFTA, AB, NAFTA, Mercosur, FTAA, ASEAN and APEC by laying emphasis on regional and political differences.
Examine economic integration with different ideological perspectives.
Evaluate the articulation process of Turkey to world economy by comparing it with other developing countries.
