OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |

Objectives of the Course Unit: | This course aims to improve aptitude for examining significant turning points at the crossroads in the Turkish political life in terms of actors, significant cases and structural change chronologically and analysing continuity and failures in the Turkish political life. |
Contents of the Course Unit: | Contents of the course include turning points in the Turkish political life, thematic subjects and main discussions, various durations and structures of the Turkish political life from the times in Ottoman to the present day and their effects on Turkish political life, Ottoman heritage and Western modernization, The Young Turks Revolution, transition to a multi-party political life, 1960-1980 period and military coups, rise of political Islam in 1990s, accelerating European Union process in 2000s and democracy, military, state, civil society and this type of subjects and concepts. |
