OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |

Objectives of the Course Unit: | It is aimed to understand system elements of railway projects and conducting a design project. |
Contents of the Course Unit: | It includes the following topics; introduction and fundamental concepts; studying on topographical maps and determining terminal points, traffic calculations and determination appropriate grades for traction, making trains and determining peak hour train numbers, maximum grades, calculation of acceleration and station lengths, station locations and surveying topographically compulsory points, average grades, drawing the grade line, minimum curve radius, finding critical cut and fill heights, location survey, curve elements, superelevation, transition curves, preliminary plan and preliminary profile, application grades, final plan and final profile, earth works and mass chart, determination of running times, running diagrams, design of automatic block signal system, track design, project costs. |
