OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |
Objectives of the Course Unit: |
It is aimed to gain the ability to calculate the displacements of isostatic and hyperstatic systems and to obtain the internal forces in hyperstatic systems via the force and displacement methods. |
Contents of the Course Unit: |
This course contains the following topics; the deformations in beams, energy methods, calculation of the displacements and rotations of sections with energy methods, analysis methods of hyperstatic systems, force method, calculation of displacements in hyperstatic systems, displacement method, moment distribution method, lines of influence and unfavorable loading. |
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to) |
To be able to calculate displacements and rotations in structural systems using energy methods. |
To be able to calculate displacements in indeterminate systems. |
To be able to calculate joint reactions of statically indeterminate systems. |
To be able to calculate internal forces and moments of indeterminate systems by using the Force method, deflection method, moment distribution method, and stiffness matrix method. |
To be able to calculate internal forces and moments of indeterminate systems under thermal effects. |
