OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: To provide the necessary information and equipment to the students who will work at sea and in the port. To introduce students to maritime English terms, theoretically and practically. To enable students to produce on maritime matters both in speaking and in writing.
Contents of the Course Unit: Introduction to professional English, Maritime English, Maritime English usage areas, Maritime English Terms, Reading-Writing-Listening Activities, Examples and Interpretations, insurance terms, maritime letters and agreements, chartering types and international communication.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Uses maritime English terminology.
Communicates with the help of English terms in the maritime field.
Gains knowledge about filling and preparation of forms at international level.
Interprets ISM and ISPS requirements and International Conventions.
Demonstrates written and oral comprehension skills in maritime English and produces written and oral productions on this subject by using vocabulary.
