OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to gain knowledge and skills related to the protection, development, early diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services of elderly health.
Contents of the Course Unit: Definition and Classification of Aging, Aging Theories, Demographic Status Related to Aging in the World and in Turkey, Age Related Changes in System Functions and Nursing Care, General Aging Problems, Muscle, Skeletal System Diseases (Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis) and Nursing Approaches, Mental Health Problems and Nursing Approaches. Nursing Care, Psychosocial Needs, Drug Use in Elderly Patients, Evaluation of Ethical Aspects of Elder Abuse and Elderly Care, Health and Social Services Provided to Elderly Individuals in Our Country, Institutions and Organizations Providing Elderly Care.

Explains the biopsychosocial changes that occur in old age.
Evaluates the health of elderly individuals.
