OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: Objective of the course is to help students gain the skills to determine the appropriate costume according to the structure of the music and movements and to design a unique choreography.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include concepts of rhythm and dance, historical development and classification of dance, note, measure and tempo, walks with tempo, basic dance techniques (dance walk, bounce, jump, balance, turns, galop etc.), Waltz, tango, salsa and syrtos dance steps and choreography studies.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Describe the chronological development of dance in the world and Turkey.
Discuss the structural differences of music.
Apply group movements synchronously with music.
Apply dance types of different societies in accordance with the cultural characteristic and attitude.
Analyze the melodic structure of the music and evaluate the suitability of the dance steps with rhythmic structures.
Determine the appropriate costume according to the structure of music and movements and to design a unique choreography.
