OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to define the basic concepts related to the profession of journalism.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include the subjects such as journalism as profession, journalist identity, news types, news writing and journalism types.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Explain the history of journalism since the Ottoman Empire and the courses that make up the Turkish media, with the help of images obtained from the archives.
Identify the ethical values of the news and journalism by taking into account the basic principles of universal journalism.
Determine the ethical values and principles of journalism in accordance with the written and universal principles.
Learns the basic concepts of printed media and expresses the difference from visual media.
