OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to explain the analysis of basics and systematics of media.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include subjects such as structural transformation that media have had in the world and in Turkey and the process of transformation of media content, how to ensure objectivity in news, the definition of the concepts of rating circulation which means the positioning of the reader- audience across media and how it is measured. Main discussion topics of the course are reader-audience perception studies, media contents and cultural policies in media discourse, applied news analysis from Turkey and the world.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Interpret the power of media to determine culture and the relationship between globalization and culture within the framework of media analysis.
Distinguish the impact and contribution of nostalgic values in the process of influencing public opinion on the basis of traffic measurements and circulation.
Interpret the media's effects on violence, sexuality and sexism on the basis of news given by taking into account the media's habits and measurements.
Explain how different age groups are affected by media contents by taking into account the influence of media.
