OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of the course is to critically evaluate the media contents, to raise an awareness to media messages and to ensure that the students are active media users
Contents of the Course Unit: The scope of the course is the concept of media literacy and critical media literacy, their scope, importance, emergence and development, media literacy models, the principles media literacy principles, approaches and theories of media literacy, the media literacy movement in Turkey, bias and stereotyping in media contents.

Knows the literacy and media literacy.
Explains the media literacy and critical media literacy through their historical development.
Analyzes media contents regarding the media literacy.
