OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to enable the student to access the data using the SQL language, to analyze the query results, and also to recognize the Oracle relational database systems and develop advanced data processing tools with PL/SQL.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include the subjects such as concepts of database systems, transaction processing, synchrony control and database recovery, object-oriented and object-relational databases, semi-structured data and XML, parallel and distributed databases, advanced distributed databases concepts, access to big data, and temporary databases.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Evaluate the role of database management systems in the organization.
Use current and logical design methods for databases.
Produce a physical database design from its logical design.
Apply a database solution to the information technology problem.
Use the SQL query language.
Determine alternative design techniques for management and reporting applications.
Prepare queries for big data sets.
