Objectives and Contents

Objectives: The aim of this course is to enable students to learn the basic principles and concepts of clinical coding and classification systems, and to use national and international disease and procedure classification systems, primarily ICD, correctly and effectively.
Content: The course content includes: Introduction to Clinical Coding: Definition and History, Role and Importance of Coding in Healthcare, ICD System and Structure, CPT and SNOMED CT Systems, LOINC and Other International Systems, Principles to Consider in Coding, Diagnostic Coding Applications, Procedure Coding Applications, National Classification Systems Used in Turkey, Types of Errors in Coding and Suggested Solutions, Practical Examples from Patient Records, Integrated Coding Application with Case Analyses, and Application Examples.
