Objectives and Contents

Objectives: The aim is to teach students the fundamental concepts and applications of cytotechnology; to help them understand cell injury, cell death, and adaptation mechanisms; to instruct on the classification of cytological materials, laboratory procedures, fixation, and preparation methods. Additionally, it aims to reinforce students’ knowledge and skills through laboratory practice and topic-based research
Content: “Students begin with an introduction to cytotechnology and its fundamental concepts. They study cell injury, cell death, and adaptation mechanisms (hypertrophy, hyperplasia, atrophy, and metaplasia). Instruction is provided on the classification of cytological materials, laboratory procedures, and fixation methods. Techniques for preparing cytological specimens and cell blocks are demonstrated through practical sessions. Additionally, staining methods used in cytology and laboratory management practices are shared with the students.
