| Objectives: |
The aim of this course is to teach the fundamental practices used in the medical microbiology laboratory; and to enable students to acquire basic skills related to clinical sample collection, culture media preparation, staining techniques, bacterial diagnostic methods, differentiation of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, antibiotic susceptibility testing, molecular and serological methods, and the use of microscopy, thereby allowing students to correctly and safely perform microbiological diagnostic processes. |
| Content: |
Within the scope of this course, clinical sample collection and transport in the microbiology laboratory, culture media and staining techniques used in microbiology, basic methods for bacterial identification, differentiation of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, antibiotic susceptibility testing and interpretation, molecular microbiological methods and serological tests, types of microscopes and their applications in microbiological diagnosis, and culture methods are covered, providing a comprehensive evaluation of microbiological diagnostic processes through laboratory-based applications. |
